One Millionth B
ook
On Thursday, February 23, 2006, BookEnds reached an incredible milestone: the donation of our one millionth book! Students from Hawthorne School in Beverly Hills ran a very successful book drive and collected 3,633 books, which they donated to Ann Street Elementary School in Los Angeles. Among the donation was The Millionth Book: Oh, the Places You”ll Go, by Dr. Seuss.

Two Millionth Book

Another milestone! In May of 2010, we recognized the donation of our two millionth book.

Thrilling Adventure Hour

On December 5th, 2010, BookEnds was the recipient of all the proceeds from the Thrilling Adventure Hour at Largo at the Coronet. Five years running, the Thrilling Adventure Hour features amazing actors you know from television, comedy, and the movies performing genre-bending stories in the style of old-time radio; for example, "A Prairie Home Companion" for the alt-comedy crowd.

Hope Gardens

In December 2010, the youth leadership at BookEnds treated the families at Hope Gardens to a fun-filled day in celebration of the holidays.  The families enthusiastically embraced everything: a climbing wall, balloon hats, tug of war, arts and crafts, an astounding magician and much, much more. Hope Gardens is a residential facility tucked into an idyllic canyon for 42 women and their children in transition from homelessness.

Festival of Books

BookEnds has a long history with the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the largest book festival in the country. We were there again in the spring of 2011.
